Giving kids brighter future

Pre-school children at Christies Beach, including Jacob, Billie, Montana and Leila, will finally have access to a computer and educational software thanks to a foundation helping to bridge the technology gap in "high need" areas. Foundation for the Future was created by home building company Hickinbotham to enlist corporate support to provide computers and fun extras for children around Adelaide. Every few months, through a partnership with Messenger Community News and the Building Bridges campaign, a computer and software will be donated to an Adelaide kindergarten or pre-school, with Christies Beach Community Childcare Centre (CBCCC) the third since the foundation started last year.

Hickinbotham Group managing director Michael Hickinbotham said the aim was to ensure all children, "no matter what area they live or what school they attend", have strong access to information from a young age. CBCCC director Michelle Benham said the new computer would give low income families access to technology they might not have at home. "It's going to be a whole new world for them."
