Foodland Charity Home raises over $200,000
Tuesday, December 16, 2008
Hickinbotham, Foodland and Canberra Investment Corporation joined forces in 2008, as part of the promotion to raise vital funds for three local charities – the McGuinness McDermott Foundation, Bedford Industries and the Queen Victoria Auxiliary of the Women’s and Children’s Hospital. The total house and land package, valued at more than $300,000, was provided by Hickinbotham and Canberra Investment Corporation.
The innovative home was one of the first to be built as part of the Hickinbotham ‘Affordable Architect Series’ which set a new benchmark in energy efficient, sustainable housing at an affordable price. The focus of the Series is to make the most of the property’s solar orientation to improve natural heating and cooling – saving money and saving the environment.
Demand for the new Affordable Architect Series of Hickinbotham homes has been high since it was launched in November. The series includes the most affordable new brick homes in South Australia and opens the door to home ownership for many families who have found it difficult to enter the housing market. The eco-friendly green focus of the homes is also a major drawcard for many people.
Hickinbotham was pleased to make a donation of $75,000 in December, to the Queen Victoria Auxiliary, which raises funds for the Women's and Babies Division of the hospital to purchase life-saving equipment.
